Marchand was a primary teacher in the Victoria School District for 30
years before retiring in December 2011. Her last teaching
assignment was teaching full-day kindergarten. Over her teaching
career, she taught at many schools and spent the last 17 years at South
Park Family School, an alternative parent-involved school, in the
Victoria School District. In 2008, she published a book with her
colleague, Linda Picciotto, about the history of South Park
School. She is currently working on creating some learning
resources with her writing partner, Linda. Her latest books are Teaching Geometry in the Primary Classroom: A Station Approach and Teaching About Canadian Money in the Primary Classroom: A Station Approach.
Picciotto taught primary classes at South Park Family school, an
alternative, parent-involved public school in Victoria, for 25 years.
She has written many professional books for teachers, some with
Scholastic and, more recently, as ebooks on her own web site. She has
given many workshops throughout her teaching career to explain programs
developed and used at South Park concerning student assessment, working
with parents, and teaching techniques in various subjects.
